Advanced networking technologies

  • Network Topologies - Arel's solution can be implemented over various network topologies and types. The solution is designed to maximize the advantages of each different network type for maximal performance as witnessed by the user and for bandwidth savings. Arel integrates multiple network types to work cohesively, providing the best suitable experience to the portion of the network a participant is on, be it high- or low-speed, unicast- or multicast-enabled, satellite, video conference or internet-intranet based. Specific solutions related to network topologies and types are described below.

  • Multicast enabled networks - Arel provides multicast audio, video and application sharing to save on bandwidth as its default setting on multicast-enabled networks. Instead of sending multiple streams of video and application sharing, a single set of streams is sent and reaches all participants that sit on multicast enabled networks.

  • Distributed server architecture - With distributed servers for all live streams (like audio, video and application sharing) and both live and on-demand content, participants can be directed to receive what they need from the nearest server. This allows for a dramatic improvement in network and bandwidth resource use, and optimized utilization of the network in off-peak time.

  • Internet / Intranet / VPN - Arel optimizes over a mix of several different configurations of terrestrial networks, providing each participant with the best suitable experience based on available bandwidth and overcoming firewall, proxy server and NAT issues.

  • Satellite networks and business TV environments - Arel's solution for satellite networks focuses on providing interaction of response units coupled with rich graphic presentation to a remote TV-oriented display, including templates for questions, presentation of full-screen slides, and integration of instructor video with other content. Full integration with near broadcast quality MPEG 1-2 video is part of this solution. Additionally, an advanced echo cancellation and feedback cancellation in the response unit (Virtual Classroom) solution is implemented.

  • Two-way VSAT integration - Satellite networks that allow 2-way TCP/IP interaction have specific characteristics, which differ greatly from terrestrial networks. Some of the integration items covered with the major technology providers include requesting the central hub for a dedicated access (DA) for superior audio (VoIP) connection, optimized message size, and TCP/IP timing parameters related to satellite delays and number of satellite hops. Additionally, satellite multicast content distribution mechanisms are available from Arel for optimized use of bandwidth and improved performance.

  • H.32x Video conferencing networks - Arel offers several integration paths of its ICP with videoconferencing networks. This integration enables bringing video conferencing to every desktop, integrating with corporate converged networks and cohesively adding data collaboration into a real-time video session while maintaining the value of already existing H.32x equipment and networks.

  • Integration with Content Distribution Networks (CDN) - Arel integrates with most leading CDN solution providers for transparent work with the Arel live and on-demand content pre-distributed to multiple remote web and media servers.

  • Integration with PSTN - Arel integrates with telephony networks to solve unavailability, latency or quality issues of audio related to networking resources situations.
